Szechuan Sauce Back For A Limited Time

Few things in McDonald’s menu history have gained as much Internet stardom as Szechuan Sauce. Chances are if you’ve searched just “Szechuan sauce” any time in the last 5 years or so, despite if you had intentions of it being about Mickey D’s dip, you likely stumbled upon some online reference to it.

The sauce was first introduced back in 1998 as a promotional item for the Disney film Mulan. It was removed from the menu after the movies promotion, and wouldn’t return for nearly 20 years. When it finally returned in 2017, largely in part to the Rick and Morty show and its fans, it was only available for a single day. It was met with such huge demand that McDonald’s brought it back again in early 2018, and promised to ship out 20 million packets to its stores that year.

Making now its 4th appearance, Szechuan Sauce is returning to McDonalds next week. March 31st to be exact, and only available until supplies last. To get your hands on some, you’ll need to have McDonalds mobile app. It will be available for free as a dipping sauce option with chicken nugget orders, but you can also purchase up to 5 packets as an a la carte menu item. There will even be different designs as shown above, so grab ’em if you can…because there’s no telling how much these things might be worth on eBay in a couple years.
